Yes, you read it right! There’s a vineyard which you and your family can experience the next time you head for Tagaytay. This picturesque vineyard is located in Megaworld’s Twin Lakes and available for the guests of the hotel. Twin Lakes is a 1,200-hectare mixed-used leisure and resort community in Laurel, Batangas, which is still within the Tagaytay area.

Contrary to the belief of most, grapes can also thrive in countries with tropical climates like the Philippines. But unlike other places in the Philippines, Tagaytay’s temperature can drop up to 13 degrees Celsius during the months of December, January and February and this has contributed a lot to ensuring a high-quality harvest and achieving just the right sweetness. The caretakers of the vineyard has to ensure that the plant adapt perfectly to the environment.
What are the types of grapes being grown in the vineyard?
There are three grape variants being grown in this vineyard — the Catawba grapes, the Red Cardinals and the Brazilian hybrid.
Is grape-picking allowed?
Yes, the hotel arranges for grape-picking during harvest season and this activity is free for its hotel guests. During the harvest season in 2021, they also extended this to the dine-in guests of the Twin Lakes Cafe with a minimum spend of P2,000.
When is harvest season?
Harvest season is only between March and April every year.
What if I am not checked-in to the hotel, how can I access the vineyard?
You can either dine at the Twin Lakes Cafe and explore the area or you can check with the hotel concierge/front desk if non-guests are allowed during your visit. You can easily contact them on Facebook or Instagram and they’re generally responsive. I do not recommend just walking in without prior permission as the hotel’s security is strict. Otherwise, you might get disappointed.
Is there a winery at Twin Lakes?
There is no winery yet at this time but they are planning to put up one and I’m really looking forward to a wine-tasting session similar to the ones in Napa Valley in California and Hunter Valley in New South Wales. In the meantime, you can always order a glass (or a bottle, whatever you need) at the Twin Lakes Cafe and enjoy the view of the vineyard from the restaurant al fresco area or from your hotel room balcony.
Where is this Twin Lakes vineyard exactly located?
This one-hectare vineyard is viewable from the Twin Lakes Shopping Village along the Tagaytay-Nasugbu highway. You can drive or hike down from the shopping mall to the hotel and eventually to the vineyard. To get to Twin Lakes, you can refer to the map below if you are coming from various points in Luzon.
