As our first travel outside of Manila as a couple, my partner and I decided to visit Coron in December. We were not married yet at this point and as it was our first time traveling as a couple, we were both excited and nervous, knowing the pressures and possible troubles that can come with traveling together for the first time.
Surprisingly, we really had fun and everything went as planned. One of the hotels we booked in was Vienna Hotel and we decided to book them based on the positive reviews we saw online. We were looking for a hotel that was conveniently located and reasonably priced, and Vienna Hotel fit the bill perfectly.
The hotel’s proximity to Tapyas road and the highway made it easy for us to explore the town. We paid PHP 11,605.59 for the two-night stay, which we found to be a good value for money. We booked them via Agoda because it was cheaper. If you would like to check price and availability and compare which would give you most value for money, check out the links below:

Getting There
We did not get airport transfers from hotel (I can’t remember why, perhaps it was more expensive) so we had to commute. Commuting is pretty straightforward coming from Busuanga Airport to Coron town as there are public vans waiting outside the airport for passengers. You just have to inform them which hotel you are going to so they can put you in the right van going to the area around your hotel. We were taken by the van straight to the hotel itself which was very convenient.

Customer Service
From the moment we arrived, we noticed that the staff were always wearing a smile and were genuinely interested in making our experience the best it could be. The check-in took a while as there is only one staff in charge of welcoming guests.
The reception area is also small, just a tiny room with a few seats, so some of the guests had to wait by the pool area. After about an hour or so, we were finally ushered to our room.
The staff at the pool bar, the cleaning crew and the security guards were also fantastic at their jobs, making sure that every aspect of the guests’ stay was perfect. The level of accommodation was impressive, and they seem to always go the extra mile to make sure that our needs were met. They were friendly, professional, and helpful in setting up tours and transportation, and we appreciated their eagerness to assist us in every way possible.
One staff member, CK, stood out to me from the moment we walked in. He was great and made sure that everything was taken care of from the beginning to the end of our stay.
I must say that the staff is the backbone of this hotel, and our stay was way more pleasant because of them. I hope that the hotel appreciates them enough because they are exceptional.
Overall, the customer service and staff at Vienna Hotel were outstanding, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an enjoyable stay in Coron Palawan.
Room Amenities
We got the cheapest Standard Room King as we will be going out everyday anyway and won’t be staying at the hotel most of the time. We simply needed a place to stay every night.
Despite our room being the simplest one, it was big and spacious for the price we paid, and the facilities were well maintained.
Despite being located on the second floor and there being no elevator, it was totally fine. Although this might be tough for older guests so make sure to let the hotel know that you have kids or elderly companions so they can give you the proper accommodation.
The room was clean, with fresh linen, functioning air conditioning, and comfortable beds. The hot and cold showers were also working well, which was a great relief after a long day of exploring. The lights were amazing too, perfect for honeymooners.
The room came complete with the basic amenities as well. There’s a television (which we rarely used) and mini bar with water, coffee and tea. You will also be provided with towels, toothbrush, toothpaste, small soap, shampoo and liquid soap.
The only disadvantage is that the walls or the door seem to be quite thin so we can hear people walking in the corridors. The neigboring guests’ doors were loud every time anyone would get out of their room. But that’s about it for us.
Breakfast
During our stay at Vienna Hotel, we had mixed experiences with the breakfast. Some days the food was good enough and enjoyable, but other days it was not. The foods were not hot nor warm even if we had breakfast at 6:30 am.
I also noticed that the breakfast buffet was barely replenished by 9:00 am, even though breakfast service was supposed to be on until 9:30 am.
I think there’s room for improvement when it comes to breakfast, perhaps by providing more variety and ensuring that the food is kept warm.
The breakfast area is also small and good use a bigger size given the number of guests they accommodate. Despite this, the staff in the restaurant was helpful.
Swimming Pool
The pool’s size is okay, big enough for kids to swim in or adults to lounge in but it’s definitely not a swimmable size for adults. It was okay though as we had no plans of swimming anyway.
The pool area is nice and big, but no lounge chairs are provided, making it difficult to enjoy the pool on sunny days. The restaurant is extended in the pool area so this area is lined up with tables and chairs instead of lounge facilities.
Wifi/Internet
During our stay as this might already be different now, we found the wifi to be a bit of a letdown. While the location of the hotel was great, the wifi was unreliable. It was only available in the lobby and pool area, not in the rooms themselves.
Even in the pool area, the wifi signal was weak and spotty, making it difficult to stay connected. This was a bit frustrating, especially since we need stay connected with family and friends back home.
It’s worth noting, however, that some other guests may have a better experience with the wifi, so it may depend on the specific room or location within the hotel.
Rooftop
The rooftop area is a highlight, great for watching the sunset or the stars at night. It also gave a great view of the ocean which was one of the main reasons I booked this hotel.
We wanted to stay near the beach but the beachfront resorts were expensive and located a bit farther away from the town proper, so Vienna Hotel was the next viable option.
The rooftop also had dining facilities so you can take your food up here to dine. It can be a bit hot during daytime so best time to stay here is during late afternoon or early evening.
Location
The best bit of this hotel, I must say, is its location and accessibility. The hotel is located in a very convenient spot, just a short walk away from the main street where you can find a variety of cafes, restaurants, bars and laundry shops.
If you’re not in the mood for a stroll, tricycles are readily available and can take you to your desired destination in no time. It’s near the main street but also far enough that it still stays peaceful and quiet.
It’s true that you have to go up a hill to get to the hotel, but this is pretty much how Coron is built, and it’s not a major inconvenience. In fact, it’s a small price to pay for the fantastic views you get from the hotel.
Additionally, the hotel’s proximity to Mt Tapyas and the port made it very convenient for us to explore the town. We had Mt Tapyas in our itinerary, and the hotel’s location made it easy for us to reach the attraction without having to worry about transportation.
During our stay at Vienna Hotel, we found that it was an excellent place to relax while still being very convenient for touring around Coron town proper. The hotel’s location allowed us to easily explore the town without having to worry about transportation, and we appreciated the convenience and ease of access it offered.

When you book, you will be provided with a booking confirmation with this information so double-check as it may have changed.
How do I get to Vienna Hotel from the airport?
You can pre-book an airport transfer with the hotel for only 300 PHP. Just let the hotel know that you need a ride and they’ll contact you. You can also commute using the public vans available in the airport. Just ask the airport staff or security and they should be able to lead you to the right direction.
Is breakfast included in the stay?
You need to check this with the hotel or in your booking confirmation. If it’s not included, you can get an à la carte breakfast for an extra 350 PHP for adults and 200 PHP for children. You also have the option to dine out as there are really good breakfast places around the area or just a tricycle away.
Overall Experience
Our 2 nights and 3 days stay at the hotel was at par with our expectation and would rate it 7.5 out of 10. It provided our basic needs and was a pleasant stay especially after a tiring day from snorkeling and touring around the town.
Despite some letdowns, the hotel is still acceptable overall, and the staff were very attentive to our needs. They made sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay to the fullest. We also felt safe even if we walk around the area at night.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would definitely return if we come to Coron again. It was great value for money and we were impressed with it given the price per night. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great value for money and basic lodging.
