This blog entry is about getting to Oslob from Dumaguete City. If you are coming from other parts of the country such as Cebu City or Bohol, you can check out my travel guide here: Travel Guide to Oslob

Southern Cebu is blessed with a good combination of majestic waterfalls and fine sand beaches. One thing I always come back here for are the waterfalls in particular. There are a lot of waterfalls to explore and I would recommend that you stay for about 2-3 days at the least to be able to visit each one without having the need to rush yourself.

My favorite airport of entry going to Oslob is Dumaguete City. Apart from being able to visit other tourist destinations in Southern Cebu, the travel time to Oslob from Dumaguete is also shorter versus coming from Cebu City. Here is a quick guide on how to cross from Dumaguete City to Oslob, including fares and schedules.

Get to Sibulan Port in Dumaguete City

There are two ways to get to Sibulan port from Dumaguete Airport or from any points in Dumaguete City. You can either ride a multicab/jeepney or charter a tricycle for a special trip.

Ride a multicab/jeepney

Look for a multicab or jeepney heading to or passing through Sibulan. If you are coming from the airport, just walk up to the main gate leading to the main/national road. You should find multicabs to Sibulan passing through this road. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Sibulan port.

Charter a tricycle (special trip)

There are 2 ports in Dumaguete — Dumaguete Port and Sibulan Port. Make sure that you tell the tricycle driver that you are going to Oslob through Sibulan Port. Otherwise, they might take you to the wrong ferry terminal. From Dumaguete, Sibulan port is around 15-30 minutes by tricycle.

Board a fast craft going to Liloan Port (Cebu)

You have 2 options going to Liloan — you can either go on a RORO (a roll-on roll-off cargo ship) which is cheaper but slower, or on a fast craft, which only takes 30 minutes. Both type of transportation travels daily and almost every hour.

Cuadro Alas Fast Craft Schedule

If you are in a hurry, the best option for you is to board the fast craft (Cuadro Alas) since it only takes 30 minutes. Here is the updated schedule for Cuadro Alas fast craft. Note that this schedule is subject to change without prior notice.

Ride a tricycle to main road

Once you arrive in Liloan port, head towards the exit where you can find several tricycles that would take you to the main road for P10 per person. However, there are times when the buses go down to the port to pick-up passengers. In this case, you won’t have to take a tricycle and just board the bus directly. Make sure that the bus you get on is the one heading for Cebu City otherwise, you might be going to wrong way. Just to be sure, inform the bus driver or conductor that you are heading for Oslob.

Hop on a Cebu City bound bus to Oslob

If you have taken the tricycle, once you are at the main road, take the bus heading for Cebu City. The drivers and conductors are well-versed with the resorts in the area so just tell them the name of your resort in Oslob, and they will drop you off at the nearest point along the main road. Tan-awan, Oslob (where most resorts are) should be a short 15-20 minutes ride from where you boarded.

Extra Items and More FAQs

Here are some photos of the Sibulan-Liloan trip I took in September 2019. The photos below were taken at both seaports, inside the fast craft and the views outside the boat.

Is there any way for us to book a ticket online?

This ticketing office itself has no online purchasing facility yet so you have to be at the port to be able to buy a ticket and board on the same day.

Can we purchase a ticket at the port ahead of time?

I think you should be able to buy a ticket in advance at the port but it has to be used within the same day. You cannot purchase a ticket for a different day.

Can I just make my life easier and book an Oslob tour from Dumaguete?

I am sure there are a lot of travel agencies who offer an Oslob tour from Dumaguete City. You can try searching for posts in DIY Travel Philippines which is one of my most recommended travel groups on Facebook. I have also found this tour from Klook which will take you to sightsee in Oslob from any point in Dumaguete City: Oslob Whale Shark and Tumalog Falls Day Trip from Dumaguete.

What is the best hotel to stay in in Oslob?

I have another blog entry on Cheap Accommodations in Oslob for less than P1,000 pesos (US$20) per night. But if budget is not a concern, according to Agoda, Booking.com and Tripadvisor reviews, looks like AJ’s Place Beach Resort is the best so far.
